What is Cremation?

Cremation is the process of reducing the body to ash and bone fragments through the application of intense heat. The actual process usually takes two to three hours and occurs in a special cremation furnace, also known as a retort. The remaining fragments are reduced into a finer consistency and placed in an urn chosen by your family.

Creating a Cremation Funeral Service Remembering Life

Identical to a customary burial service, cremation can occur after a funeral service celebrating a life with the body present in a cremation casket. Cremation in no way prohibits a family from having a visitation for either family only or with friends. Creating an appropriate celebratory visitation experience followed by a service at the funeral home or a place of worship concluded with a reception having eulogies, poetry, favorite music and good food is one example of a personalized funeral meaningful. Memorial services are identical to a funeral service only without the body present. Families can still greet and gather friends and family before a service. Cremation in no way prohibits a family from having a visitation for either family only or with friends. An urn is customary at a memorial service usually surrounded by pictures, flowers, and memorabilia, creating a desired life memorial. The place of service may take place at either the funeral home, place of worship, or any preferred venue. Eulogies, poetry, live music, all with or without faith are a few simple suggestions to make a service unique. A memorial service and be either precluded or concluded by a reception at a variety of venues. Basic Cremation

Basic cremation includes bringing your loved one to the funeral home and after the mandatory 24 hour waiting period, the cremation process is began. Families are asked to identify the deceased during either a private family viewing or identification viewing prior to cremation. The ashes are then placed into an urn of your choice and are either ready for pick-up or delivered to your home.
